Projects
Sustainability South West (SSW) coordinates a number of flagship projects. As the regional Champion Body for sustainable development we act as a 'catalyst' for action on a range of issues. Priorities for action are identified through our membership and wider networks.
All of SSW's project work is done in partnership with other organisations from across the private, public and voluntary sector. Through our partnership approach we are helping to move sustainability from the margins to the mainstream!

SustNav 'navigate your way to lasting, positive solutions'

Fair Shares, Fair Choice

Planting Places

Sustainable Health South West
A partnership project of the NHS South West and SSW to support NHS organisations in the region to develop sustainable policies and practices (http://www.sustainablehealthsw.org.uk/)
Sustainable Tourism
SSW now holds the remit for sustainable tourism in the South West. South West England is one of the UK’s most popular destinations and the sector is central to the region’s economy. This project aims to help the sector improve its efficiency and quality while improving its impact on residents and the environment.

Future Foundations 'building a better South West' - sustainable construction initiative managed by SSW 2001-2009
Future Footprints 'keep the South West special' - SSW coordinated sustainable tourism campaign with the key messages of 'See what's on your doorstep' and 'Try local, buy local' (ran 2003 to 2009)
Local to Regional Sustainability Forum - annual event bringing together local practitioners and regional organisations to address how more sustainable outcomes can be achieved (hosted by SSW in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010)
Pioneers of Packaging - sustainable packaging awards run in 2005 and a follow-up consumer guide to more sustainable wrappings ('Packaging...unwrapped!')
C+ Carbon Positive Awards - award scheme developed in partnership with the SW Regional Development Agency and Business in the Community, recognising and celebrating businesses, organisations and community groups who are taking positive action on reducing carbon (ran 2008 and 2009)
