Planting PlacesPlanting Places Community Green Space Awards

SustNav managed 'Planting Places', a unique green space awards which ran in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.The Awards celebrated top examples of community green spaces - and the hard-working people who care for them - from across the South West of England. They recognise the huge array of benefits that green spaces can and do deliver in supporting healthy, sustainable communities and highlight the potential for an enhanced role for green space in our towns and cities.

A total of 38 South West green spaces were celebrated through the Planting Places Awards.

Planting Places was developed and delivered in partnership with Natural England, with a range of other organisations supporting the project over the years. These have included GreenSpace SW, NHS South West, the Environment Agency, Defra, English Heritage, ARUP and the Architecture Centre.

Planting Places Legacy

On SustNav's closure in 2014, the Planting Places project transferred to project partners Natural England. Natural England is an Executive Non-departmental Public Body responsible to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Its purpose is to protect and improve England’s natural environment and encourage people to enjoy and get involved in their surroundings.
